I would like to start off by wishing all my readers a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope 2013 is everything you ever wished for and more!
With every new year comes a new resolution which most of us create and unfortunately forget about by February. However, there are some that I think we shouldn't ignore as the benefits are immense. I decided to put together 10 Beauty Resolutions for 2013 which hopefully we are all able to relate to. They aren't in any particular order!
1. WATER
So I guess it isn't rocket science that drinking a sufficient amount of water on daily basis works wonders for your skin and your general wellbeing. So this year, I will make sure that I drink more water than I currently do (although I do think I drink enough already). The recommended daily intake of water is around 2.5 litres a day.
2. STOP PICKING
Now I think a lot of us are guilty of this, some even on a daily basis. Whether it's your mascara off your eyelashes, your spots (pimples), your eyebrows or your cuticles. You only transfer dirt, end up leaving a scar or end up with missing hairs / lashes. Whatever you pick, you need to chill out and stop. So keep those hands nicely to your side.
3. WASH YOUR MAKEUP OFF BEFORE BED
You've had a long night and all you feel like doing is a high jump straight into bed. But you can't do that with a face full of makeup. I'm sure we have all done this at some point. However, my aim is that for the next 12 months and beyond, I will take my makeup off before bed regardless of how tired I am. I really get annoyed with myself if I sleep with makeup on as I know in the next day or two, my skin would just look awful.
4. GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP
I know in this day and age we all have busy schedules and even if our schedules are free, we have distractions that prevent us from getting a good night's sleep. If like me, you take your laptop to bed, and you find yourself surfing the net at 3am, then something needs to change asap. Lack of sleep can cause havoc on your appearance. I don't think the zombie look is in for 2013. Try and get a good night's sleep to reveal gorgeous skin in the morning.
5. WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES
How often do you wash your makeup brushes? I want to get into a routine as I have been slacking lately. Dirty makeup brushes are the cause of many breakouts. It has been recommended that makeup brushes should be washed on a weekly basis if you use them daily. However, I think that's a bit excessive. I think I will stick to washing them every fortnight.
6. CLEAR OUT MAKEUP / BEAUTY CABINET
How often do you clear out your beauty cabinet? I know I have some items sitting there that are past their shelf life (which I don't use of course!) that are ready to meet their end. I think it's time for a clearout..don't you? There's no point in kidding yourself saying that it may come in handy in the summer! Bin it!
7. EXFOLIATE
Exfoliate your body at least twice a week to reveal gorgeous glowing skin. I think we sometimes focus on exfoliating our face and not our body.
8. GET YOURSELF A RED LIPSTICK
Some of us are so anxious about stepping out of our comfort zone. So this year, why not head to your local beauty counter and purchase that read lipstick you've been dreading to buy. Wear it and be confident. Who cares what people think!
9. COMMIT TO A SKINCARE ROUTINE
It's great to find a skincare routine that works well for you. We sometimes jump ship before the product actually has time to work. It normally takes about 2 weeks for a formulas results to show. So when you've found one that works for you, it's best to stick to it.
10. USE HEAT PROTECTANT
OK..I'm guilty. I sometimes just straighten and curl my hair without using any heat protectant (slap wrist) even though I know I am just damaging my hair. I will definitely be using it prior to using any of my tools.
So there you have it! My 10 Beauty Resolutions I will be abiding by this year! What are yours?
Thanks for reading!
