1. THICKER MOISTURISER
The cold temperatures slow down your blood circulation to your face, making it look dull and feel rough. So it's necessary to switch to a thicker more intense facial and body moisturiser; a cream rather than a lotion. I would still use one with SPF to protect my skin from harmful rays. I also use rich handcreams when the weather is cold to combat severe dryness. It's also best to wear gloves on cold windy days.
2. HYDRATING SKIN SERUM
Using this underneath your daycream after your toner, adds an extra moisture boost as you are able to lock in the moisture into your skin.
3. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
I know we all know this, but it's so important. I know when it's so cold outside, I find it hard to drink water and would rather reach for something hot. But we really need to keep our skin hydrated from the inside too. If you don't like it cold, it may be easier to just drink it at room temperature. Herbal teas are also a great winter-warming way to keep hydrated when it’s cold outside.
4. EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN & LIPS
Exfoliating your skin 1-3 times per week gets rid of the dead skin sells which could prevent your moisturising treatments from working effectively. So you definitely need to make sure you exfoliate! As mentioned earlier, dry lips can be a real pain. Avoid the temptation to lick them which will only exasperate dryness. I use a homemade olive oil and sugar lip scrub to get rid of the dead skin prior to applying any balm, gloss or lipstick. To read more about it, click here. Keep a nice lip balm in your handbag for hydration on the go.
5. REPLENISHING NIGHT CREAM
This is definitely something I like using for an overnight skin boots. Don't forget that skin regeneration is primarily active at night time and it is more receptive to ingredients that will help restore and revitalize its appearance, There are many available, you just need to find one that works well for you. They are great because you wake up with skin looking fresher and more alive.
What is your winter skin care routine?

My skin on my hands was so damaged last year, probably because the wind was blowing like crazy for more than a week. Will take extra care of my skin this year. Thank you for informative post :)
